Another great article written by Rob Fleeup about what we’re doing here at Premier Baseball Kansas City. A link to the original article is as the bottom.
Any given day of the week, the staff at Premier Pitching and hitting, located in Lenexa, KS, is working with a name or face you will recognize.
Premier opened their doors last November with the ability and know-how to train and improve the elite midwest 2016 class of players.
In the twelve weeks since, the pitching program, under the expert eyes of Bob Zimmerman and Casey Shaw, the pitcher’s mechanics are cleaner, they are more athletic and stronger, and most important, they all enjoy coming in and working.
With a solid foundation of core and lower half strength and pre-hab style arm conditioning, all of the Metro area’s elite draft prospects, and a few minor league free agents get their work done there. The work and dedication by both the staff and players definitely pays off.
Two players are mid to upper 90’s off the mound by the first and second bull-pen of the year. Minor league free agent, LHP Adam Schemenaur has grabbed attention with his 6’9″ 230 pound frame and mid to plus 90’s fastball, and Prep RHP Riley Pint was one mph shy of 100 mph.
Conditioning and preparation was on the minds of Mill Valley/Arkansas commit LHP Lucas Krull, Blue Valley Northwest/Kansas State commit RHP Cole Duensing, Shawnee Mission East/Virginia commit LHP/1B Joey Wentz and Blue Valley/Kansas State commit LHP Will Brennan as they prepare for the MLB Scouts and Front Office personnel at the Prep Baseball Report’s Elite Super 60 Pro Showcase in Chicago on February 7th.
In January, Travis Jones, the facilities Sales and Marketing Director, could sense a obvious need could be better met. All the top players from the area were in the facility, there are hitting tunnels and cages, including the state of the art HitTraxx system, he needed a hitting instructor that could elevate and evaluate the position player’s swings.
Enter Jeremy Isenhower.
Kansas born and raised, Jeremy played his college baseball in Kansas and finished at Missouri State before being drafted by the Phillies. As a left handed hitter, not only does he help the top right handed hitters, he has attracted the top ranked left handed hitters in the area. He gets what it takes to make the jump from high school prep hitter to collegiate player and beyond.
Each week, several days during the week, you will find Staley/Missouri State commit, standout Center Fielders Jack Duffy and Will Brennan in the cage with Isenhower.
Louisiana State Commit, switch hitting infielder Nolan Williams
Using tee work and drills, in addition to lots of live BP, with the immediate feedback from the HitTraxx system, these players can evaluate each swing.
In addition to Krull, Duensing, Wentz, and Brennan, Williams is attending the Super 60, with the hopes of showing off his plus foot speed and arm strength to move him higher in the draft order.
The pitching program has attracted baseball and softball players of all ages. With the addition of Isenhower, and with Connor Dawson, players will be able to get in the cages with top notch instruction and HitTraxx feedback.
With the high school season and tryouts right around the corner, the midwest baseball and softball player has the tools and location available to them for continuous improvement.
Even when the young player hits the inevitable roadblock, it’s about the journey, dedication and desire not to quit, and the process of getting there.
